Abstract
Since silver is currently hoarded, for all of the reasons presented by the silver bulls, it is important to estimate the above-ground stocks of silver in bullion, in silver coins that are hoarded and traded like bullion, and in other forms that are potentially available such as sterling silverware that could be melted down to bullion. Any decrease in these stocks during a given year is a source of supply in that year and is added to the amount of newly mined silver in order to arrive at the total supply. This above-ground stock is referred to as secondary silver.
