Non Thermal Radio Sources in Clusters of Galaxies

Abstract

This paper deals mostly with properties of non thermal radiosources in rich Abell clusters, with particular attention to radio morphology and to the Radio Luminosity Functions (RLF). The following analysis is based on the large bulk of data existing in the literature, the effort of several researchers who, with different scientific purposes and different methods of work, have lead to the accumulation of an impressively large but also incoherent amount of information. The main risk in dealing with these data is to incurr in not well understood biases or selection effects. On the other hand the advantage is to have at one’s disposal a set of hundreds of radio sources instead of a few tens. I believe that the following analysis will be reasonably free of the aforementioned risks, because biases and incompleteness have been taken into account through a painful and time consuming but hopefully useful work.

Pluralitas non est ponenda sine necessitate.
