Abstract
Economic development activities usually result in alteration or modification of the natural, manmade or social environment, thus producing environmental and/or social stresses. These stresses may take the form of pollution of air, water and soil, disturbance of the ecological balance, overloading of infrastructures and alteration of behavioural and/or social patterns.
