Abstract
Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is an art as well as a science, in that not only must the techniques of EIA be thoroughly mastered, but they also need to be applied in a practical situation. While this is true of many activities, it is good to keep the distinction in mind when approaching the subject of EIA from either the research or practical perspective.
