Abstract
Recent years have seen an upsurge in interest in catalytic conversions involving carbon monoxide and other one carbon molecules. The impetus for such studies has come from the desirability of basing chemical and liquid fuels production on feedstocks other than petroleum. Homogeneous catalysis has a major part to play in this field and, in particular, homogeneous rhodium catalysts combined with an iodide promoter have proved to be especially important.
