Abstract

In homogeneous catalysis telomerization is defined as the oligomerization of dienes under the concomitant addition of a nucleophilic reagent. For example, two molecules of butadiene react with one nucleophile HY to form the dimeric telomers 1 and 2. This reaction (Equation 1) is catalyzed by various organometallic compounds

of the transition metals, especially by palladium complexes. The nucleophiles — for example, water, alcohols, amines or acids — are introduced mainly at the terminal position of the dimeric molecule giving excellent yields of the product 1.
