Abstract
The statistical characteristics of clouds were obtained from data of aircraft soundings of the atmosphere at 32 sites in the Soviet Union [3]. The cloud-structure parameters considered below were calculated for most points from sounding data gathered from 1957 to., 1964. The greatest number of soundings were made at Moscow (1386 in winter, 1431 in spring, 1372 in summer, 1370 in autumn), Leningrad (862, 854, 860, and 891, respectively), and Arkhangelsk (561, 409, 461, and 610, respectively).
