Abstract
Oftentimes statisticians and anthropologists communicate ineffectively, the former speaking mathematical language while the latter speak biological language. Therefore it is possible for the two to misinterpret each other’s goals and methods, occasionally resulting, among some biological users of multivariate analysis, in attraction to theory and statistical formulation rather than to morphological understanding or functional interpretation.
