Part of the book series: Astrophysics and Space Science Library ((ASSL,volume 109))

Abstract

A great renewal in our knowledge of the evolution and nucleosynthesis in massive stars (M ≳ 9 M⊙) has occurred in recent years due to the inclusion by several groups of the effects of mass loss by stellar winds. These works have important consequences for stellar structure, stability and evolution, appearance of nucleosynthetic products at stellar surfaces, advanced nucleosynthesis, galactic enrichments, final stages of stellar evolution and galactic distributions of massive stars (OB stars, red supergiants and Wolf-Rayet stars). Here we shall concentrate on nucleosynthesis and related problems in stellar structure and evolution of massive stars.
