Abstract

In this paper I want to propose and elucidate the thesis that the metasciences have lost important elements of their functions with respect to the sciences. This evolution resulted from the social incorporation of the empirical sciences. Social incorporation of the sciences means growing subsumption of scientific research and development under industrial and political control. This process not only had, and still has, economic and political consequences for the scientific communities, it has also had considerable impact on the metasciences.
