Abstract

Cytological analysis was carried out on an oblong-leaflet mutant obtained in Vicia faba in the progeny of an M1 variegated plant characterized by a dicentric chromosome. The karyotype of the mutant was derived by metric and photometric data through a microdensitometer scanner: a longer centromeric region of chromosome I was found in the mutuant. The origin of the mutation is discussed.
