Part of the book series: Advances in Agricultural Biotechnology ((AABI,volume 6))

Abstract

The transfer of plant materials across the globe could also spread associated diseases and pests and result in their widespread distribution. The benefits of a program of plant introduction and evaluation can be lost if pathogens and pests are also introduced. The plant health problems encountered in the transfer of food legume seed are pathological, nematological, entomological and parasitological.
