Abstract
Brunchorstia pinea occurs in Italy from the Alps to the Appenines. On the Alps the natural vegetation is composed mostly of conifers. Here B. pinea seems acclimatized and damage is moderate. On the Appenines conifers (particularly Pinus nigra) were introduced in plantations. Damage is heavy but concentrated in small areas, and is strongly related to microclimate and to variable morphology of the territory.
