Effects of Sulfur Dioxide on Infection of Red Pine by Gremmeniella abietina

  • Chapter
Scleroderris canker of conifers

Part of the book series: Forestry Sciences ((FOSC,volume 13))

Abstract

Relatively low doses of SO2 were found to significantly reduce the growth of red pine and inhibit infection of trees by G. abietina in field plots that received low concentrations of inoculum. Under conditions of high inoculum density, SO2 did not affect infection or disease development.
