Part of the book series: Forestry Sciences ((FOSC,volume 12))

Abstract

In the foregoing chapters of this book the main issues of forest policy and the relevant options are discussed by one: the role of forests and related kinds of land use in national life, the way in which forest products and services can best benefit people both in the short and long term, the possible responses to the increasing pressures which threaten the forest estate in so many countries and, finally, the institutional and administrative framework at national and international level without which sensible policies cannot be developed and implemented.
