Abstract

The principles. advantages, and other problems of the most frequently used systems of long-term non invasive respiratory monitoring are described and discussed, together with a summary of the method of calibrating such systems. The main relevance to study of a cardiovascular system is seen as the possible use of respiratory monitoring as a measure of physical work during a subject’s normal daily activities, with application in the study of blood pressure variability and Ischaemic Heart Disease.
