Abstract
In Chapter 1 we saw that if one specified the arrival times t j and the service times s j for a single-channel server with FIFO queue discipline, then one could construct curves A (t) and Dq(t), and evaluate queue lengths, delays, etc. The purpose of any theory, however, is not to describe what did happen, but what will happen in some repetition of an experiment or in some different experiment.
