Abstract

The word event is used as a general term for one of the possible outcomes from a trial or observational situation. Section 2.7 discusses several trials with outcomes that must be one of two events (spin of a coin, birth of a child, etc.), and later refers to trials with outcomes that can be classified as one of three or more events.
