Steps in the correlation of structure with biological activity

  • Chapter
The Selectivity of Drugs

Part of the book series: Outline Studies in Biology ((OSB))

Abstract

The previous chapter has outlined the sources of selectivity which are available for controlling uneconomic cells. Before these principles are discussed in depth, a brief account must be given of what is known of the molecular basis for biological activity in a foreign substance. This activity can usefully be viewed as a primary force which knowledge of selectivity can tame in the service of man.
