Abstract

IN the preceding chapter we examined the longitudinal cross- section, cut parallel to a uni-directional wind, of an imaginary transverse dune whose length was so great that the end-effects could be neglected. We saw that as this cross-section grows bigger there comes a time when the initial rounded shape is no longer stable; the top advances faster than the leeward foot, and a slip-face is formed.
