Basic theory

Part of the Chapman & Hall Mathematics Series book series (CHMS)

This chapter is devoted to adapting the familiar concepts of Real Analysis to the complex case. The adaptation is often almost trivial, and at times we omit proofs that are formally identical to those applying in the real case. The main new feature is the possibility of defining paths in C (1.4) and of integrating along such paths (1.7). The reader with a sound knowledge of Real Analysis will not need to spend long on this chapter.
