Abstract

There are at least four fundamental areas in human reproduction where Prostaglandins (PGs) are involved. These are the possible physiological role in the regulation of reproductive events, their implications in pathological situations and functional disorders, their involvement as mediators to pharmacological agents, and their application to induce therapeutic effects. Many of the suggested diverse actions and versatile roles remain conjectural due to analytical problems or difficulties in interpretation of data extracted from in vitro and animal experiments which may not be applicable to the human situation. Moreover, biological effects in response to pharmacological doses of PGs may not reflect a physiological role.
