Abstract
Pinlay restoration is widely used in China for restoring defects of incisai angle or proximal surface of the anterior teeth, excessive wear of occlusal surface or severe damage to the posterior teeth. The retention of pinlay depends mainly on metal pins setting into the pinholes of dentin. It will restore the morphology and function of defective teeth, with minimal tooth reduction and good retention. The placement of pinholes is closely related to the anatomical morphology of the pulp chamber.
