Abstract
In addition to the three paired major salivary glands, numerous minor glands are distributed throughout the oral tissues. They are plentiful in the posterior part of the hard palate, the soft palate, the lip and the cheek, but are absent from the anterior part of the hard palate and the gingivae1. The glands, both major and minor, consist of serous and mucous cells in various combinations, forming acini and arranged in lobules with a duct system.
