Abstract
The working group was set up with the objectives to identify conditions and requirements and to propose suitable fields of action and strategies to improve the infrasturcture and cooperation of libraries in Europe. The major issue for the group was to deal with the Schwencke resolution relating to the creation of a European library. The group endorsed the idea of assembling the knowledge available in Europe in a more accessible form so as to increase its value for the countries in Europe but also to contribute to the export of European knowledge to other parts of the world.
