Mass Loss from Red Giants

Part of the book series: Astrophysics and Space Science Library ((ASSL,volume 117))

Abstract

Scalo (1981) has drawn attention to the presence of peculiar red giants (or p giants as he abbreviates them) which show abundance anomalies and more recently Luck, Bond and Lambert (1984) have pointed out the presence of high latitude F supergiants which are found at heights of 1 – 5 kpc above the Galactic disk.
