Abstract
In this chapter we introduce the concept of a transform of a probability distribution and give applications. One especially important application is in the analysis of sums of independent random variables.
Simplicity, simplicity, simplicity. I say, let your affairs be as two or three, and not a hundred or a thousand; instead of a million count half a dozen. Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
