Abstract
We consider time dependent accretion onto white dwarfs with strong magnetic fields. For certain conditions this flow is unstable and leads to large periodic variations in the hard X-ray luminosity. If the magnetic field is large enough, electron cyclotron radiation will stabilize the flow. We also discuss the probable observational appearance of the oscillations found in our calculations.
