Abstract
An analysis of precipitating particle energy flux observations show a local intensity maximum at ∼ 77 invariant latitude and 14 MLT, a location where a number of other geophysical processes show intensity maximum. Detailed examination show these energy fluxes to be composed entirely of 0.3 - 3 keV electrons precipitating in latitudinally thin structures. The source populations from whence these electrons originated had densities of order 2 cm-3 and temperatures of order 150 eV. Parallel electric field acceleration of ∼ 1000 V (but no more than 3000 V) was responsible for the electron rich energy flux enhancements. The source of EMF for this process probably originates in a fairly direct solar-wind magnetosphere interaction.
