Abstract

At the frequency range of the visible light all detectors are phase-blind. Due to this phase-blindness some information about the electromagnetic signal is lost during recording.

In holography some redundant information is added before recording. This is done so that only uninteresting information is lost due to the phase-blindness.

The clever way of adding ballast information before the detection process will be explained in various ways, as modulation, as multiplexing and as the implementation of the so-called mathematical “polarisation identity”.

Not only phase-blindness, but also blindness towards color and (physical) polarisation can be overcome, based on the holographic principle.
