Abstract

Research directed toward the design of catalysts has become an area of intense interest [1]. Catalysis has been one of the most important challenges facing the practicing technologist in the development of new processes or practical reactions. Finding a good catalyst is especially difficult, since catalysis has been thought to be a vast, confusing field, replete with an enormous quantity of empirical facts intermixed with a few general theories. Recently, renewed and increased efforts have been made toward the design of catalysts or the development of tailored catalysts, both in academia and industry. From these points of view, polymer-attached catalysts have received intense interest.
