Abstract

For geological considerations the Indian subcontinent can be divided into three different regions: (1) Peninsular shield, (2) the Indo-Gangetic basin and (3) the Himalaya. For understanding the nature of the gravity field in peninsular India, it is essential to have a good understanding of the geology and tectonic history of various parts of the peninsular shield.
