Abstract

Carbon monoxide is a very important industrial raw material, whose importance is increasing steadily as conventional organic hydrocarbon feedstocks become scarce [1–2b]. Carbon monoxide is available from a wide variety of sources Thus the major sources of synthesis gas, a mixture of carbon monoxide and hydrogen, are steam reforming of natural gas (methane); naphtha and heavier hydrocarbon fractions could be used as well (reactions (1) and (2)).
