Abstract
The mixed bed deionisation process is extensively used for the final purification of boiler feed water in modern power stations. This application is known as Condensate Polishing and the process is characterised by low influent impurities, a desire for the maximum effluent purity and the use of very high flow rates. Under these conditions the lifetime of cation resins, particularly macroreticular cation resins, creates no difficulties but anion resin performance gradually deteriorates and replacement is required at approximately four to five year intervals.
