Abstract
I0n fourteen successive ‘President’s Reports’ of De Nederlandsche Bank NV for the years 1967 to 1980,* Dr. Zijlstra has made a major contribution to the writing of national and international economic history, focusing on monetary aspects, and enriched in many places with trenchant analyses of a factual and normative nature. His personal approach is best reflected in the fairly extensive ‘General Surveys’, seasoned with a variety of pointed statements, which precede the chapters on specific subjects.
