Abstract
Despite the use of cardioplegic solutions tissue areas remain unprotected in the presence of a severe coronary stenosis [1], particularly in the subendocardial layer [2]. Retrograde coronary sinus perfusion [3] may protect such ischemic areas during cardiopulmonary bypass. However, this method available requires additional facilities [4].
