Abstract

Several authors have recently pointed out the relationship between the decrease of blood filterability and prognosis in cerebral infarction. We have analysed this problem in a well-defined group of patients with cerebral infarction using the whole blood filtration technique. Sixteen patients were carefully selected by CAT scan examination, with recent cerebral infarction due to atherosclerosis, without haemorrhage. Blood filterability was measured by the Reid and Dormandy method, weekly during the first three weeks.
