Abstract
When the Eustachian tubal orifice shows ossification, proliferation of granulation, polyps and/or cholesteatoma, the ostium of the Eustachian tube needs curettage and enlargement for tubal patency. It is followed by adequate exposure of the bone surface. A one-stage reconstruction of the middle ear with bone exposure at 145 the orifice will induce poor tubal function because of regrowth of granulation and loss of tubal patency.
