Abstract
The inconvenience of a permanent exteriorized mastoid cavity has been recognized. This is the reason why many otologic surgeons prefer the intact canal wall technique1,2,3,and also the only reason to perform an obliteration of the mastoid cavity when a canal wall down technique has been used.4,5
