Summary
In order to increase its depth capability for offshore operation to 400 msw, Comex has initiated a Deep Diving Programme. One of the development projects concerns the diver’s individual equipment. To provide the diver with safe and efficient equipment, the project proceeds through definition of basic requirements, specifications of performance standards, selection/development of equipment, unmanned tests, offshore tests at conventional depth and a final deep onshore dive. Standards have been defined according to Comex experience, for breathing performances, inspired gas temperature, inspired CO2 level, reliability, gas consumption and efficiency. Though the project is still in progress, some results are presented that concern the qualification of the Comex gas reclaim system.
