Abstract
From the point of view of the ecologist the vegetation of the Białowieża Forest is a very convenient object in which the character of the relations between the vegetal cover and the abiotic environment can be closer elucidated. Favourable to this is the state of preservation of the main environment components, the high diversity and spatial variability of the vegetal cover and soil cover developed under the conditions of the same climate with a very modest set of substrata and parental rock (sands, loamy sands, loams, clay and organic deposits).
