Summary
In this paper the current situation regarding the treatment and agronomic use of pig manure is analysed; the lack of success in the pollution-treatment system applied to such a type of waste-water, the faults in legislation and the subsequent confusion on the part of those operating in the pig sector are brought to notice. Finally four possible solutions for the areas with high density pig breeding are given. The most favourable solution is that of agronomic spreading which is the least costly while at the same time allowing a minimisation of risks to the environment.
