Processing and Use of Organic Sludge and Liquid Agricultural Wastes

Summary

The distributions of chromium, nickel, copper, zinc, cadmium, mercury and lead between the solid residue, condensates and flue gas during pyrolysis of sewage sludge have been measured. Cr, Ni, Cu, Zn and Pb are retained in the solid residue up to 750°C. The volatilization of Cd started at 600°C. Hg was quantitatively volatilized at 350°C. The heavy metal balances were 100% ±15%.
