Abstract
Two sampling systems to collect fog droplets are described. The results show the extremely high trace element concentrations in fog water. Compared to rainwater in general the concentrations in fogwater show an increase by a factor of 10 – 15. A characteristical distribution of short time fluctuation of concentrations during single fog events is given. The measured concentrations strongly depend on the actual values of the liquid water content. Highest concentrations are found mostly at the beginning and the end of the fog period, when the liquid water content is reduced.
