The Capacity of the Metal/Liquid Electrolyte Interphase: Contribution of the Metal

  • Chapter
Trends in Interfacial Electrochemistry

Part of the book series: NATO ASI Series ((ASIC,volume 179))

Abstract

The jellium model for metals is reviewed. The polarizability of the electronic plasma in the surface region increases the double layer capacity. The model is complemented by a model for the electrolyte solution, which is represented as an ensemble of hard sphere ions and dipoles. The relation of the model to experimental data, and possible extensions, are discussed.
