Abstract

The flux distribution of Vega for 10 µm < λ < 100 µm is investigated using the IRAS data. Using the bands 1 and 2 fluxes, relative to Vega, of 23 stars known Te, the Vega flux is adjusted to reproduce fluxes calculated by model atmospheres. These Vega fluxes agree with those given by the pointed IRAS observations and calibration, and show Vega in excess at all bands over modelled fluxes. A comparison with Sirius implies a similar excess, however a comparison with 33 AO-type survey stars suggests that Vega is normal at band 1. There appears to be a problem either with the survey AO comparison or with the calculated infrared continuum of hot stars.
