FAB Mass Spectrometric Study of the Non Volatile Organic Fraction in Raw and Drinking Water Extracts

  • Conference paper
Organic Micropollutants in the Aquatic Environment

Summary

Analysis of the non volatile organic extracts of granular activated carbon filter installed at Barcelona’s water works plant, raw and drinking water were performed using HPLC fractionation, FAB mass spectrometry and combined FAB-CID-MIKE. Also LC/MS has been evaluated. Among identified non volatile organics present in water, some of them not reported previously, there are a wide range of nonionic and anionic surfactants and polyglycols. The identification of the components has been carried out by comparison of FAB and FAB-CAD-MIKE spectra with those obtained from different HPLC fractions.
