A Comparison of Procedures for Trace Enrichment of Organophosphorus Pesticide Residues from Water

  • Conference paper
Organic Micropollutants in the Aquatic Environment

Summary

The trade enrichment of dialkyl phosphates, dialkyl phosphorothioates and dialkyl phosphorodithioates, highly water soluble, polar and acidic degradation products of organophosphorus pesticides, from water, creates some problems of principled nature. As a uniformly efficient procedure for their simultaneous isolation from water samples is not available at present, different approaches have to be combined in a multiresidue analysis.

The efficiency of accumulation, sensitivity and the possibility of practical application for water analysis of several enrichment procedures investigated in this laboratory are compared. The procedures are based on extraction, adsorption on activated carbon, Amberlite XAD-4 resin and octadecyl-modified silica gel and on anion-exchange on an ion-exchanger prepared from Amberlite XAD-4.
