Morphogenesis and Properties of Neuronal Model Networks

  • Chapter
Cybernetics and Systems ’86

Abstract

The behavior of small groups of neurons can be described with certain types of networks, consisting of “logical” (McCulloch-Pitts) neurons. A morphogenesis algorithm compensating initial disturbances by a feed-back process is applied to model networks that are randomly connected in the beginning and equilibrate via selective stabilization and elimination of synapses. The structure and the resulting ability of the networks to generate cyclic activity patterns before and after morphogenesis is analysed mathematically and with computer simulation experiments.
