Abstract
Let us proceed now to the investigation of special classes of linear operators playing the basic role in what follows. We consider symmetric (in particular, self-adjoint) and isometric (in particular, unitary) operators. Having in mind the purposes of spectral theory, we consider also the class of normal operators which includes self-adjoint as well as unitary operators.
